Seeing His Face is everywhere | Gita Chapter 11

Gita Chapter 11: Wiswarupa Darsana Yoga, The Form of the Universe, describes the matter of Sri Krishna bestowing spiritual visions on Arjuna. He shows His infinite and marvelous form as the universe. One can see this form only with pure bhakti.

Chapter 11: verse: 1 – 5

11:1

arjuna uvāca mad-anugrahāya paramaṁ guhyam adhyātma-saṁjñitam

yat tvayoktaṁ vacas tena moho’yaṁ vigato mama

Arjuna said:

“Thanks to your loving wishes about the secret of the nature of the Soul that you have told me, is gone all my doubts.”

11:2

bhavāpyayau hi bhūtānāṁ śrutau vistaraśo mayātvattaḥ
kamala-pattrākṣa māhātmyam api cāvyayam

“I have heard in detail from you, O Kṛṣṇa, the creation, evolution, and fusion of creatures throughout nature; It is also about your glory.”

11:3

evam etad yathāttha tvam ātmānaṁ parameśvaradraṣṭum
icchāmi te rūpam aiśvaraṁ puruṣottama

“O Parameśvara (Kṛṣṇa Hyang Maha Mulia), You are exactly what you describe yourself. But may, if possible, I may see, witness your Divine form, o Kṛṣṇa.”

11:4

manyase yadi tac chakyaṁ mayā draṣṭum iti prabhoyogeśvara
tato me tvaṁ darśayātmānam avyayam

“Kṛṣṇa, if you think, I can witness (your glorious Hakiki form), O Yogeśvara (Kṛṣṇa, Ruler of Yoga), Let you show you the form of You Hyang Never Extinct.”

11:5

śrī-bhagavān uvāca paśya me pārtha rūpāṇi śataśo’tha sahastraśaḥ

nānā-vidhāni divyāni nānā-varṇākṛtīni

Śrī Bhagavān (Kṛṣṇa Hyang Maha Berkah) said:

“Arjuna, look at My form which consists of hundreds, thousands of forms – a variety of colors and shapes.”

Chapter 11: verse: 6 – 10

11:6

paśyādityān vasūn rudrān aśvinau marutas tathā
bahūny adṛṣṭapūrvāṇi paśyāścaryāṇi bhārata

“Arjuna, look in Me, Twelfth Āditya, the gods under the leadership of Varuṇa, Ruler of the Sea; The Eleven Rudra tasked with destroying evil; Eight Vasu under indra, Lord of heaven; Twin of Aśvinī-Kumāra, those who mastered science knowledge; Forty-Nine Marut, variations of the wind element; and there are many other forms that you have never seen before.”

11:7

ihaika-sthaṁ jagat kṛtsnaṁ paśyādya sa-carācarammama
dehe guḍākeśa yac cānyad draṣṭum icchasi

“Look in me, O Arjuna; all over nature consisting of moving creatures, as well as the immovable forms of life. You can really see anything. what you want.”

11:8

na tu māṁ śakyase draṣṭum anenaiva sva-cakṣuṣādivyaṁ
dadāmi te cakṣuḥ paśya me yogam aiśvaram

“However, you can’t see all of that With the pair of eyes you have. So I am equipped with you with divine eyes, so that you may see the glory of My Yoga.”

11:9

sañjaya uvāca evam uktvā tato rājan mahā-yogeśvaro hariḥ

darśayām āsa pārthāya paramaṁ rūpam aiśvaram

Sañjaya says:

“Baginda Prabu, after saying so, Kṛṣṇa, Hyang is also a Day (Usurper of All Illusions); showing form His divine to Arjuna.”

11:10

aneka-vaktra-nayanam anekādbhuta-darśanam
aneka-divyābharaṇaṁ divyānekodyatāyudham

“Arjuna saw the Divine Being with his eyes and countless mouths; Complete with a variety of weapons and Divine jewelry. Something magical, amazing; but it’s really beautiful.”

Chapter 11: verse: 11 – 15

11:11

divya-mālyāmbara-dharaṁ divya-gandhānulepanamsarvāścarya-mayaṁ
devam anantaṁ viśvato-mukham

“The flowers of nature are the necklaces he wears; the universe is His garment; perfumery Heavenly fragrance. His sparkle is amazing, His face is in everywhere.”

11:12

divi sūrya-sahasrasya bhaved yugapad utthitā
yadi bhāḥ sadṛśī sā syād bhāsas tasya mahātmanaḥ

“If a thousand suns rise at the same time in the sky, their light is not comparable to the glorious luster of The Form. Divine The Great Soul.”

11:13

tatraika-sthaṁ jagat kṛtsnaṁ pravibhaktam anekadhāapaśyad
deva-devasya śarīre pāṇḍavas tadā

“Arjuna saw the universe with everything. its diversity in the form of the Great Single Hyang.”

11:14

tataḥ sa vismayāviṣṭo hṛṣṭa-romā dhanañjayaḥpraṇamya
śirasā devaṁ kṛtāñjalir abhāṣata

“Then, Arjuna was in a state of amazement and his feathers stood up, bowing his head with great respect and admiration, while cupped his hands in front of his chest said so:”

11:15

arjuna uvāca paśyāmi devāṁs tava deva dehe sarvāṁs tathā bhūta-viśeṣa-saṅghān

brahmāṇam īśaṁ kamalāsana-sthaṁ ṛṣīṁś ca sarvān uragāṁś ca divyān

Arjuna asked:

“Prabu, I see in you the gods and There are many other creatures. Brahmā, the Creator above his lotuses, the Sages and the Heavenly Snakes.”

Chapter 11: verse: 16 – 20

11:16

aneka-bāhūdara-vaktra-netraṁ paśyāmi tvāṁ sarvato’nanta-rūpamnāntaṁ
na madhyaṁ na punas tavādiṁ paśyāmi viśveśvara viśva-rūpa

“O Viśveśvara (Kṛṣṇa, Lord of Nature Universe), O Viśvarūpa (Kṛṣṇa, The Being of the Universe), I see You in infinite form, with countless hands, stomachs, mouths, eyes, and faces the number, as well as scattered in all directions. I don’t see the beginning, the middle, or the end of Your being which encompasses all of nature.”

11:17

kirīṭinaṁ gadinaṁ cakriṇaṁ ca tejo-rāśiṁ sarvato dīptimantampaśyāmi
tvāṁ durnirīkṣyaṁ samantād dīptānalārka-dyutim aprameyam

“I saw the sparkle of the crown, mace, and chakra in Your hand spreads throughout nature. It’s really hard to see the light. Your glitter that exceeds the embers and light of the sun.”

11:18

tvam akṣaraṁ paramaṁ veditavyaṁ tvam asya viśvasya paraṁ nidhānamtvam
avyayaḥ śāśvata-dharma-goptā sanātanas tvaṁ puruṣo mato me

“You are the Unspeakable Truth of Hussed and Worth Knowing; You are the Sole Buttress of the Universe; and, Protector of Dharma, Eternal Virtue; I see You as the Puruṣa, eternal Hyang Abadi and Supreme.”

11:19

anādi-madhyāntam ananta-vīryam ananta-bāhuṁ śaśi-sūrya-netrampaśyāmi
tvāṁ dīpta-hutāśa-vaktraṁ sva-tejasā viśvam idaṁ tapantam

“I see You without beginning, middle, and end; Your magic is infinite; The number of your hands is incalculable; I saw the sun and the moon as your two eyes; Your mouth brings out a burning fire, and burn the universe with its flame.”

11:20

dyāv ā-pṛthivyor idam antaraṁ hi vyāptaṁ tvayaikena diśaś ca sarvāḥdṛṣṭvādbhutaṁ
rupam ugraṁ tavedaṁ loka-trayaṁ pravyathitaṁ mahātman

“The space between heaven – heaven – and earth fulfilled by You; and so with all directions; o Mahātmā (Kṛṣṇa with a Noble Spirit), see Your mighty and amazing form – all three realms are horrified, gripped fear.”

Chapter 11: verse: 21 – 25

11:21

amī hi tvāṁ sura-saṅghā viśanti kecid bhītāḥ prāñjalayo gṛṇantisvastīty
uktvā maharṣi-siddha-saṅghāḥ stuvanti tvāṁ stutibhiḥ puṣkalābhiḥ

“Gods, Angels from all directions gathered here; all worship and praise You solemnly; such also with the Almighty And Siddha, those who have attained self-perfection, worship you and Pray for the peace of the universe.”

11:22

rudrādityā vasavo ye ca sādhyā viśve’śvinau marutaś coṣmapāś cagandharva-yakṣāsura-siddha-saṅghā
vīkṣante tvāṁ vismitāś caiva sarve

“Gods like Rudra, Āditya, Vasu, Sādhyā, Viśvadeva, Aśvini’s twin; Marut; Ūṣmapa or spirits of the ancestors; even the inhabitants of heaven and other realms such as Gandharva, Yakṣa, Asura, and Syria – all look at You in amazement!”

11:23

rūpaṁ mahat te bahu-vaktra-netraṁ mahā-bāho bahu-bāhūru-pādambahūdaraṁ
bahu-daṁṣṭrā-karālaṁ dṛṣṭvā lokāḥ pravyathitās tathāham

“Seeing Your Form with so many mouths, eyes, arms, thighs, legs, abdomen, and canines, all over nature tremble fear. So am I.”

11:24

nabhaḥ-spṛśaṁ dīptam aneka-varṇaṁ vyāttānanaṁ dīpta-viśāla-netramdṛṣṭvā
hi tvāṁ pravyathitāntar-ātmā dhṛtiṁ na vindāmi śamaṁ ca viṣṇo

“Seeing your form that touches the sky; shiny and exuding a variety of illuminated colors; With your mouth open wide, Your eyes smoldering; My heart is pounding, O Viṣṇu (Kṛṣṇa, Hyang Maha Maintaining). I feel helpless, and there is no calmness.”

11:25

daṁṣṭrā-karālāni ca te mukhāni dṛṣṭvaiva kālānala-sannibhānidiśo
na jāne na labhe ca śarma prasīda deveśa jagan-nivāsa

“Watching your fanged, shiny mouth and burning, emitting a fire that can burn the universe, I, like Lost your way already. There was no more sense of calm in me. O Deveśa (Kṛṣṇa, Ruler of the Gods); o Jagan-Nivāsa (Kṛṣṇa, The Support of the Universe), have mercy on us (creatures all over nature)!”

Chapter 11: verse: 26 – 30

11:26-27

amī ca tvāṁ dhṛtarāṣṭrasya putrāḥ sarve sahaivāvani-pāla-saṅghaiḥbhīṣmo
droṇaḥ sūta-putras tathāsau sahāsmadīyair fire yodha-mukhyaiḥ

vaktrāṇi te tvaramāṇā viśanti daṁṣṭrā-karālāni bhayānakānikecid
vilagnā daśanāntareṣu sandṛśyante cūrṇitair uttamāṅgaiḥ

“(I see) the son of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, the Kaurava with other kings (on their side); Bhīṣma, Droṇa, and Karṇa – sons sais; and so the great knights of our side; everything quickly entering your fanged mouths and it is terrible; Some in among them stuck between your teeth, their heads were destroyed because impact.”

11:28

yathā nadīnāṁ bahavo’mbu-vegāḥ samudram evābhimukhā dravantitathā
tavāmī nara-loka-vīrā viśanti vaktrāṇy abhivijvalanti

“As rivers are flooded. speeding towards the sea; Even so, the knights excelled among the people of the world, as if vying to enter your flaming mouth let out a fire.”

11:29

yathā pradīptaṁ jvalanaṁ pataṅgā viśanti nāśāya samṛddha-vegāḥtathaiva
nāśāya viśanti lokās tavāpi vaktrāṇi samṛddha-vegāḥ

“As laron rushed into the flame fire to find its end; Even so throughout the world with all its contents is entering your mouth quickly, to melt without a trace.”

11:30

lelihyase grasamānaḥ samantāl lokān samagrān vadanair jvaladbhiḥtejobhir
āpūrya jagat samagraṁ bhāsas tavogrāḥ pratapanti viṣṇo

“O Viṣṇu, with your mouth lit up and Wide open, you devour all over nature from all directions. Your burning fire burn everything.”

Chapter 11: verse: 31 – 35

11:31

ākhyāhi me ko bhavān ugra-rūpo namo’stu te deva-vara prasīda
vijñātum icchāmi bhavantam ādyaṁ na hi prajānāmi tava pravṛttim

“Say who you really are, in Your form Hyang Almighty Is Terrible? O Devavara (Kṛṣṇa, Hyang The Great in among the gods), I kowtow to You, bless myself with Your compassion. O Hyang Supreme Being, I want to understand You and understand Your intentions.”

11:32

śrī-bhagavān uvāca kālo’smi loka-kṣaya-kṛt pravṛddho lokān samāhartum iha pravṛttaḥ

ṛte’pi tvāṁ na bhaviṣyanti sarve ye’vasthitāḥ pratyanīkeṣu yodhāḥ

Śrī Bhagavān (Kṛṣṇa Hyang Maha Berkah) said:

“I am the Kāla, the Reigning Time, the Destruction of the Universe. Right now I I want to destroy them all. Even without your help, Arjuna, the knights in the opponent’s camp must have perished.”

11:33

tasmāt tvam uttiṣṭha yaśo labhasva jitvā śatrūn bhuṅkṣva rājyaṁ samṛddhammayaivaite
nihatāḥ pūrvam eva nimitta-mātraṁ bhava savya-sācin

“Therefore, rise up and attain glory, victory! After conquering the enemies (dharma), enjoy power, kingdom to prosper (people).”

11:34

droṇaṁ ca bhīṣmaṁ ca jayadrathaṁ ca karṇaṁ tathānyān api yodha-vīrānmayā
hatāṁs tvaṁ jahi mā vyathiṣṭhā yudhyasva jetāsi raṇe sapatnān

“Kill Droṇa, Bhīṣma, Jayadratha, Karṇa, and the other knights, who had indeed perished all by Me. Don’t be afraid! Fight, fight them, you must have conquered your opponents are all.”

11:35

sañjaya uvāca etac chrutvā vacanaṁ keśavasya kṛtāñjalir vepamānaḥ kirīṭī

namaskṛtvā bhūya evāha kṛṣṇaṁ sa-gadgadaṁ bhīta-bhītaḥ praṇamya

Sañjaya says:

“Hearing Kṛṣṇa say so, Arjuna lowered his head, cupped his hands in front of his chest, fully Fear, anxiety, and trembling voices, he said: “

Chapter 11: verse: 36 – 40

11:36

arjuna uvāca sthāne hṛṣīkeśa tava prakīrtyā jagat prahṛṣyaty anurajyate ca

rakṣāṁsi bhītāni diśo dravanti sarve namasyanti ca siddha-saṅghāḥ

Arjuna said:

“O Kṛṣṇa, it is right when the universe worship you, praise you with a loving heart, and glorify your glory; meanwhile, those who are giants; Liars and perpetrators crime; I ran to all directions out of fear. And the Siddhas, who have attained self-perfection, kowtow to You.”

11:37

kasmāc ca te na nameran mahātman garīyase brahmaṇo’py ādi-kartreananta
deveśa jagan-nivāsa tvam akṣaraṁ sad-asat tatparaṁ yat

“O Kṛṣṇa, why would they not kowtow? to You, for indeed You are Hyang Causing Brahmā, The Creator – can create; o Supreme Hyang of the highest; O Deveśa (Kṛṣṇa, Ruler of the Gods), Jagan-Nivāsa (Kṛṣṇa, Nature Support Universe), You are the True Truth; Existence, Nothingness, and You Hyang surpassed the two. Indeed, You are the Brahman (Great Soul) of the Unfavourable, Eternal Hpun Immortal!”

11:38

tvam ādi-devaḥ puruṣaḥ purāṇas tvam asya viśvasya paraṁ nidhānamvettāsi
vedyaṁ ca paraṁ ca dhāma tvayā tataṁ viśvam ananta-rūpa

“You are Puruṣa, the Person Agung, Hyang Soul Cluster Existed from the Beginning; The Single Focus of the Universe; You are Hyang Maha Tahu and Worth Knowing; Destination, Place, Circumstances Supreme, You Cover the universe, O Single Hyang, although Tangible a lot of countless.”

11:39

vāyur yamo’gnir varuṇaḥ śaśāṅkaḥ prajāpatis tvaṁ prapitāmahaś canamo namas te’stu sahastra-kṛtvaḥ punaś ca bhūyo’pi
namo namas te

“You are Vāyu, the Wind; Yama, Death; Agni, Fire, Energy; Varuṇa, Water; and the Lord of the Moon (and other stars); You are the Ruling Prajāpati Hyang, the Steward of all beings; even the Ancestor The Great Creator and Custodian of Prajāpati; all respect, prostrate worship and Praise you. Accept my prostration thousands of times.”

11:40

namaḥ purastād atha pṛṣṭhatas te namo’stu te sarvata eva sarvaananta-vīryāmita-vikramas
tvaṁ sarvaṁ samāpnoṣi tato’si sarvaḥ

“O Almighty Hyang, Almighty, pray Bow down before You, behind You, and from every direction. You cover all galas, therefore, everything is You.”

Chapter 11: verse: 41 – 45

11:41

sakheti matvā prasabhaṁ yad uktaṁ he kṛṣṇa he yādava he sakhetiajānatā
mahimānaṁ tavedaṁ mayā pramādāt praṇayena vāpi

“All this time, in my carelessness, I called yourself, ‘He Kṛṣṇa, He Yādava (Kṛṣṇa, descendant of Yadu), He friend,’ really for not being aware of your majesty. It was also because of my closeness that made me alpa (and incapable of feeling Your glory).”

11:42

yac cāvahāsārtham asat-kṛto’si vihāra-śayyāsana-bhojaneṣueko’tha
vāpy acyuta tat-samakṣaṁ tat kṣāmaye tvām aham aprameyam

“For all my disrespectful deeds; when making fun; when walking together; Sitting, eating, even fighting. together; both when we are alone, or with the other; I’ll take care of thousands of apologies to you, O Kṛṣṇa.”

11:43

pitāsi lokasya carācarasya tvam asya pūjyaś ca gurur garīyānna
tvat-samo’sty abhyadhikaḥ kuto’nyo loka-traye’py apratima-prabhāva

“You are the Father and The Great Teacher of the Direction for creatures throughout nature, both moving and not move. O Hyang Unparalleled In His Power, no one can match your power in the three realms. Then, however, anyone can exceed You?”

11:44

tasmāt praṇamya praṇidhāya kāyaṁ prasādaye tvām aham īśam īḍyampiteva
putrasya sakheva sakhyuḥ priyaḥ priyāyārhasi deva soḍhum

“Therefore, by kowtowing to You once Again, O Deva (Kṛṣṇa, Your Majesty), please apologize to You (for all My carelessness all this time). Forgive me as a father forgives his son; a friend forgives his friend; And the lover forgives the loved him.”

11:45

adṛṣṭa-pūrvaṁ hṛṣito’smi dṛṣṭvā bhayena ca pravyathitaṁ mano metad
eva me darśaya deva rūpaṁ prasīda deveśa jagan-nivāsa

“Seeing your form Hyang Maha Amazing, I happy. However, my mind was chaotic and frightened as well. Please let Gusti Please show form as Viṣṇu, the Keeper. O Deveśa (Kṛṣṇa, Ruler of the Gods), Jagan-Nivāsa (Kṛṣṇa, The Support of the Universe), awarded I am with that vision.”

Chapter 11: verse: 46 – 50

11:46

kirīṭinaṁ gadinaṁ cakra-hastaṁ icchāmi tvāṁ draṣṭum ahaṁ tathaivatenaiva
rūpeṇa catur-bhujena sahasra-bāho bhava viśva-mūrte

“O Thousand-armed Universe, I want to see You again in Your form (as Viṣṇu Hyang Maha Nurturing) four-armed, crowned with mace and chakra in your hands.”

11:47

śrī-bhagavān uvāca mayā prasannena tavārjunedaṁ rūpaṁ paraṁ darśitam ātma-yogāt

tejo-mayaṁ viśvam anantam ādyaṁ yan me tvad anyena na dṛṣṭa-pūrvam

Śrī Bhagavān (Kṛṣṇa Hyang Maha Berkah) said:

“Arjuna, because of my love for you, and with The power of yoga or My permanence, I have shown you the form of the Universe, Hyang The Noblest, Especially, and Supreme. Before you, no one had ever see this form.”

11:48

na veda-yajñādhyayanair na dānair na ca kriyābhir na tapobhir ugraiḥevaṁ-rūpaḥ
śakya ahaṁ nṛ-loke draṣṭuṁ tvad anyena kuru-pravīra

“The deepening of the scriptures (Vedas); religious rites; charity-pious or dana-punia; even tapa-brata, none of them, Who can show this form. (Again,) Arjuna, except for you, no Anyone who has ever seen this form.”

11:49

mā te vyathā mā ca vimūḍha-bhāvo dṛṣṭvā rūpaṁ ghoram īdṛṅ mamedamvyapeta-bhīḥ
prīta-manāḥ punas tvaṁ tad eva me rūpam idaṁ prapaśya

“Witnessing this creepy form of Mine, do not be afraid and disturbed (restless, confused); with that thought Calm and fearless, now look back at My form. before.”

11:50

sañjaya uvāca ity arjunaṁ vāsudevas tathoktvā svakaṁ rūpaṁ darśayām āsa bhūyaḥ

āśvāsayām āsa ca bhītam enaṁ bhūtvā punaḥ saumyavapur mahātmā

Sañjaya said:

“After saying so, Kṛṣṇa returned to His original form. Thus, the Mahātmā, the Noble Soul, comforted the aforementioned Arjuna. fear, with his charming form.”

Chapter 11: verse: 51 – 55

11:51

arjuna uvāca dṛṣṭvedaṁ mānuṣaṁ rūpaṁ tava saumyaṁ janārdana

idānīm asmi saṁvṛttaḥ sa-cetāḥ prakṛtiṁ gataḥ

Arjuna said:

“Having seen your form again as a human being, O O Kṛṣṇa, now I am as calm as ever.”

11:52

śrī-bhagavān uvāca su-durdarśam idaṁ rūpaṁ dṛṣṭavān asi yan mama

devā apy asya rūpasya nityaṁ darśana-kāṅkṣiṇaḥ

Śrī Bhagavān (Kṛṣṇa Hyang Maha Berkah) said:

“It is really hard to see my form that you have see. The gods or angels always hope to see it.”

11:53

nāhaṁ vedair na tapasā na dānena na cejyayāśakya
evaṁ-vidho draṣṭuṁ dṛṣṭavān asi māṁ yathā

“By studying the scriptures, the Vedas; bertapa; charity or pundana-punia; even by praying or presenting offerings in various ways, not no one can see My form as you have seen Him.”

11:54

bhaktyā tv ananyayā śakya aham evaṁ-vidho’rjunajñātuṁ
draṣṭuṁ ca tattvena praveṣṭuṁ ca parantapa

“It is only with guidance, unwavering devotion that one can witness the essence of myself, even stand with Me, O Arjuna.”

11:55

mat-karma-kṛn mat-paramo mad-bhaktaḥ saṅga-varjitaḥnirvairaḥ
sarva-bhūteṣu yaḥ sa mām eti pāṇḍava

“Arjuna, he is the one who carries out his duties as offering to Me – for my sake; take refuge in Me; berbhakti to Me; No have attachments; and free from hostility and hatred towards others creatures, surely reach Me.”

Thus ended the Eleventh Conversation.
