The three relationships include relationships with fellow human beings, relationships with the environment, and relationships with God that are interrelated with each other.

Understanding Tri Hita Karana

Tri Hita Karana comes from the words “Tri” meaning three, “Hita” meaning happiness and “Karana” meaning cause. Thus Tri Hita Karana means “The three causes of happiness“.

The Relationship between Man and God

Man is a creation of God, while the Atman in man is a spark of the sacred ray of God’s greatness that causes man to live. In this sense, man owes his life to God. Therefore, every human being must be grateful, sincere and always bow down to God Almighty. Gratitude and prostration of bhakti can be expressed in the form of puja and praise for His greatness, namely:

  • By practicing Yoga Samadhi.
  • By studying, living and practicing religious teachings.

Human and Environmental Relations

Humans live in a certain environment. Humans obtain living necessities from their environment. Humans are thus very dependent on their environment. Therefore, humans must always pay attention to their situation and environmental conditions. The environment must always be maintained and maintained and not damaged.
