Introduction: In Chapter 10, Lord Kṛṣṇa reveals His “Vibhūti”—His divine opulences and manifestations. He explains that everything beautiful, powerful, and glorious in the world is but a spark of His splendor. By understanding these divine glories, the seeker can perceive the presence of God in every aspect of creation.
10:1 — śrī-bhagavān uvāca bhūya eva mahā-bāho śṛṇu me paramaṁ vacaḥ yat te’haṁ prīyamāṇāya vakṣyāmi hita-kāmyayā
The Blessed Lord said: “O mighty-armed Arjuna, listen again to My supreme word. Because you are My dear friend, I shall speak for your benefit and welfare.”
10:2 na me viduḥ sura-gaṇāḥ prabhavaṁ na maharṣayaḥ aham ādir hi devānāṁ maharṣīṇāṁ ca sarvaśaḥ
“Neither the hosts of gods nor the great sages know My origin; for I am the source of all the gods and the great sages in every respect.”
10:3 yo mām ajam anādiṁ ca vetti loka-maheśvaram asammūḍhaḥ sa martyeṣu sarva-pāpaiḥ pramucyate
“He who knows Me as the Unborn, the Beginningless, and the Great Lord of the worlds—he among mortals is undeluded and is liberated from all sins.”
10:4-5 buddhir jñānam asammohaḥ kṣamā satyaṁ damaḥ śamaḥ sukhaṁ duḥkhaṁ bhavo’bhāvo bhayaṁ cābhayam eva ca ahiṁsā samatā tuṣṭis tapo dānaṁ yaśo’yaśaḥ bhavanti bhāvā bhūtānāṁ matta eva pṛthag-vidhāḥ
“Intelligence, knowledge, freedom from delusion, forgiveness, truthfulness, self-control, and calmness; happiness and misery, birth and death, fear and fearlessness; non-violence, equanimity, contentment, austerity, charity, fame, and infamy—all these various qualities of beings arise from Me alone.”
10:6 maharṣayaḥ sapta pūrve catvāro manavas tathā mad-bhāvā mānasā jātā yeṣāṁ loka imāḥ prajāḥ
“The seven great sages and the four Manus (progenitors of mankind) of ancient times were born of My mind and share My nature. From them have come all the creatures in the world.”
10:7 etāṁ vibhūtiṁ yogaṁ ca mama yo vetti tattvataḥ so’vikampena yogena yujyate nātra saṁśayaḥ
“He who knows in truth this glory (Vibhūti) and power (Yoga) of Mine, becomes united with Me through unwavering Yoga; of this, there is no doubt.”
10:8 ahaṁ sarvasya prabhavo mattaḥ sarvaṁ pravartate iti matvā bhajante māṁ budhā bhāva-samanvitāḥ
“I am the source of all; from Me everything evolves. Understanding this, the wise worship Me with loving devotion.” (Aku adalah sumber dari segala sesuatu; dari-Ku segalanya berkembang. Memahami hal ini, orang-orang bijaksana memuja-Ku dengan bakti yang penuh cinta kasih.)
10:9 mac-cittā mad-gata-prāṇā bodhayantaḥ parasparam kathayantaś ca māṁ nityaṁ tuṣyanti ca ramanti ca
“With their minds fixed on Me and their lives surrendered to Me, enlightening one another and always speaking of Me, they are satisfied and delighted.” (Dengan pikiran yang terpusat pada-Ku dan hidup yang dipasrahkan kepada-Ku, saling menerangi satu sama lain dan selalu membicarakan tentang Aku, mereka merasa puas dan bahagia.)
10:10 teṣāṁ satata-yuktānāṁ bhajatāṁ prīti-pūrvakam dadāmi buddhi-yogaṁ taṁ yena mām upayānti te
“To those who are constantly devoted and worship Me with love, I give the Buddhi-Yoga (the yoga of understanding) by which they come to Me.” (Kepada mereka yang terus-menerus berbakti dan memuja-Ku dengan cinta, Aku memberikan Buddhi-Yoga (yoga pemahaman) yang dengannya mereka datang kepada-Ku.)
10:11 teṣām evānukampārtham aham ajñāna-jaṁ tamaḥ nāśayāmy ātma-bhāva-stho jñāna-dīpena bhāsvatā
“Out of compassion for them, I, dwelling in their hearts, destroy the darkness born of ignorance with the luminous lamp of knowledge.” (Karena belas kasih kepada mereka, Aku yang bersemayam di dalam hati mereka, menghancurkan kegelapan yang lahir dari ketidaktahuan dengan pelita pengetahuan yang bercahaya.)
10:12-13 — arjuna uvāca paraṁ brahma paraṁ dhāma pavitraṁ paramaṁ bhavān puruṣaṁ śāśvataṁ divyam ādi-devam ajaṁ vibhum āhus tvām ṛṣayaḥ sarve devarṣir nāradas tathā asito devalo vyāsaḥ svayaṁ caiva bravīṣi me
Arjuna said: “You are the Supreme Brahman, the Supreme Abode, and the Ultimate Purifier. All the sages, including the celestial sage Narada, Asita, Devala, and Vyasa, have declared You to be the Eternal Divine Person, the Original Deity, the Unborn, and the All-Pervading. And now You Yourself declare it to me.”
10:14 sarvam etad ṛtaṁ manye yan māṁ vadasi keśava na hi te bhagavan vyaktiṁ vidur devā na dānavāḥ
“O Kṛṣṇa, I believe all that You have told me to be true. Neither the gods nor the demons, O Lord, understand Your manifestation.”
10:15 svayam evātmanātmānaṁ vettha tvaṁ puruṣottama bhūta-bhāvana bhūteśa deva-deva jagat-pate
“Indeed, You alone know Yourself by Your own Self, O Supreme Person, Creator of all beings, Lord of all creatures, God of gods, and Ruler of the universe!”
10:16 vaktum arhasy aśeṣeṇa divyā hy ātma-vibhūtayaḥ yābhir vibhūtibhir lokān imāṁs tvaṁ vyāpya tiṣṭhasi
“Please describe in detail Your divine glories (Vibhūti), by which You pervade all these worlds and remain present in them.”
10:17 kathaṁ vidyām ahaṁ yogiṁs tvāṁ sadā paricintayan keṣu keṣu ca bhāveṣu cintyo’si bhagavan mayā
“O Supreme Yogi, how may I know You through constant meditation? In what various forms and objects are You to be meditated upon by me, O Blessed Lord?”
10:18 vistareṇātmano yogaṁ vibhūtiṁ ca janārdana bhūyaḥ kathaya tṛptir hi śṛṇvato nāsti me’mṛtam
“O Janārdana, tell me again in detail Your power of Yoga and Your divine glories. I am never sated by hearing Your life-giving words, which are like nectar to me.”
10:19 — śrī-bhagavān uvāca hanta te kathayiṣyāmi divyā hy ātma-vibhūtayaḥ prādhānyataḥ kuru-śreṣṭha nāsty anto vistarasya me
The Blessed Lord said: “Listen, O best of the Kurus! I shall reveal to you My divine glories, but only the most prominent ones, for there is no end to My manifestations.”
10:20 aham ātmā guḍākeśa sarva-bhūtāśaya-sthitaḥ aham ādiś ca madhyaṁ ca bhūtānām anta eva ca
“I am the Self, O Arjuna, seated in the hearts of all beings. I am the beginning, the middle, and also the end of all creatures.”
10:21 ādityānām ahaṁ viṣṇur jyotiṣāṁ ravir aṁśumān marīcir marutām asmi nakṣatrāṇām ahaṁ śaśī
“Of the Adityas, I am Vishnu; of luminous bodies, I am the radiant Sun. I am Marichi of the Maruts, and among the stars, I am the Moon.”
10:22 vedānāṁ sāma-vedo’smi devānām asmi vāsavaḥ indriyāṇāṁ manaś cāsmi bhūtānām asmi cetanā
“Of the Vedas, I am the Sama Veda; of the gods, I am Indra. Of the senses, I am the mind; and in living beings, I am the consciousness.”
10:23 rudrāṇāṁ śaṅkaraś cāsmi vitteśo yakṣa-rakṣasām vasūnāṁ pāvakaś cāsmi meruḥ śikhariṇām aham
“Of the Rudras, I am Shankara; of the Yakshas and Rakshasas, I am Kubera (the lord of wealth). Of the Vasus, I am Agni (fire); and of the mountains, I am Mount Meru.” )
10:24 purodhasāṁ ca mukhyaṁ māṁ viddhi pārtha bṛhaspatim senānīnām ahaṁ skandaḥ sarasām asmi sāgaraḥ
“Of the household priests, O Arjuna, know Me as the chief, Brihaspati. Of the army generals, I am Skanda; and of the bodies of water, I am the Ocean.”
10:25 maharṣīṇāṁ bhṛgur ahaṁ girām asmy ekam akṣaram yajñānāṁ japa-yajño’smi sthāvarāṇāṁ himālayaḥ
“Of the great sages, I am Bhrigu; of words, I am the sacred syllable OM. Of sacrifices, I am the sacrifice of silent chanting (Japa-Yajna); and of immovable things, I am the Himalayas.”
10:26 aśvatthaḥ sarva-vṛkṣāṇāṁ devarṣīṇāṁ ca nāradaḥ gandharvāṇāṁ citrarathaḥ siddhānāṁ kapilo muniḥ
“Of all trees, I am the sacred Ashvattha (Peepal tree); of the celestial sages, I am Narada. Of the Gandharvas, I am Chitraratha; and among the perfected beings, I am the sage Kapila.”
10:27 uccaiḥśravasam aśvānāṁ viddhi mām amṛtodbhavam airāvataṁ gajendrāṇāṁ narāṇāṁ ca narādhipam
“Of horses, know Me as Uchchaishravas, born of the nectar of immortality; of lordly elephants, I am Airavata; and among men, I am the King.”
10:28 āyudhānām ahaṁ vajraṁ dhenūnām asmi kāmadhuk prajanaś cāsmi kandarpaḥ sarpāṇām asmi vāsukiḥ
“Of weapons, I am the Vajra (thunderbolt); of cows, I am Kamadhuk (the cow of plenty). I am Kandarpa, the god of love; and among serpents, I am Vasuki.”
10:29 anantaś cāsmi nāgānāṁ varuṇo yādasām aham pitṝṇām aryamā cāsmi yamaḥ saṁyamatām aham
“Of the Nagas, I am Ananta; of the inhabitants of the water, I am Varuna. Of the ancestors, I am Aryaman; and among the controllers, I am Yama, the lord of death.”
10:30 prahlādaś cāsmi daityānāṁ kālaḥ kalayatām aham mṛgāṇāṁ ca mṛgendro’haṁ vainateyaś ca pakṣiṇām
“Among the Daityas (demons), I am Prahlada; of subduers, I am Time. Of animals, I am the Lion; and of birds, I am Garuda, the son of Vinata.”
10:31 pavanaḥ pavatām asmi rāmaḥ śastra-bhṛtām aham jhaṣāṇāṁ makaraś cāsmi srotasām asmi jānhavī
“Of purifiers, I am the Wind; of warriors, I am Rama. Of the fish, I am the Shark; and of the rivers, I am the Ganges (Jahnavi).”
10:32 sargāṇām ādir antaś ca madhyaṁ caivāham arjuna adhyātma-vidyā vidyānāṁ vādaḥ pravadatām aham
“Of all creations, I am the beginning, the end, and also the middle, O Arjuna. Of all sciences, I am the science of the Self (Adhyatma-Vidya); and of orators, I am the logical argument.”
10:33 akṣarāṇām a-kāro’smi dvandvaḥ sāmāsikasya ca aham evākṣayaḥ kālo dhātāhaṁ viśvato-mukhaḥ
“Of letters, I am the letter A; of compound words, I am the Dvandva (dual). I am indeed the eternal Time; I am the Ordainer whose face is turned everywhere.”
10:34 mṛtyuḥ sarva-haraś cāham udbhavaś ca bhaviṣyatām kīrtiḥ śrīr vāk ca nārīṇāṁ smṛtir medhā dhṛtiḥ kṣamā
“I am all-devouring Death, and I am the origin of things yet to be. Among feminine qualities, I am fame, prosperity, speech, memory, intelligence, constancy, and forgiveness.”
10:35 bṛhat-sāma tathā sāmnāṁ gāyatrī chandasām aham māsānāṁ mārga-śīrṣo’ham ṛtūnāṁ kusumākaraḥ
“Of the hymns in the Sama Veda, I am the Brihat-Sama; of poetic meters, I am the Gayatri. Of months, I am Margashirsha (November-December); and of seasons, I am the flower-bearing Spring.”
10:36 dyūtaṁ chalayatām asmi tejas tejasvinām aham jayo’smi vyavasāyo’smi sattvaṁ sattvavatām aham
“I am the gambling of the deceitful; I am the splendor of the splendid. I am victory, I am effort, and I am the goodness of the good.”
10:37 vṛṣṇīnāṁ vāsudevo’smi pāṇḍavānāṁ dhanañjayaḥ munīnām apy ahaṁ vyāsaḥ kavīnām uśanā kaviḥ
“Of the Vrishnis, I am Vasudeva (Kṛṣṇa); of the Pandavas, I am Dhananjaya (Arjuna). Of the sages, I am Vyasa; and among the poets, I am the poet Ushana.”
10:38 daṇḍo damayatām asmi nītir asmi jigīṣatām maunaṁ caivāsmi guhyānāṁ jñānaṁ jñānavatām aham
“I am the scepter of the rulers; I am the statesmanship of those who seek victory. Of secrets, I am Silence; and of the wise, I am the Knowledge.”
10:39 yac cāpi sarva-bhūtānāṁ bījaṁ tad aham arjuna na tad asti vinā yat syān mayā bhūtaṁ carācaram
“Whatever is the seed of all beings, that I am, O Arjuna. There is no being, whether moving or unmoving, that can exist without Me.”
10:40 nānto’sti mama divyānāṁ vibhūtīnāṁ parantapa eṣa tūddeśataḥ prokto vibhūter vistaro mayā
“There is no end to My divine manifestations, O Arjuna. What I have declared to you is but a brief statement of My infinite glories.”
10:41 yad yad vibhūtimat sattvaṁ śrīmad ūrjitam eva vā tat tad evāvagaccha tvaṁ mama tejo-’ṁśa-sambhavam
“Whatever being is glorious, prosperous, or powerful, know that to be a manifestation of but a fragment of My splendor.”
10:42 atha vā bahunaitena kiṁ jñātena tavārjuna viṣṭabhyāham idaṁ kṛtsnam ekāṁśena sthito jagat
“But what is the need of all this detailed knowledge, O Arjuna? I exist, supporting this entire universe with but a single fraction of Myself.“
Thus ends the Tenth Conversation of the Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 10.
“May all beings be well, may all beings be at peace, may all beings attain perfection, and may all beings experience divine glory.”
